School of Nursing

Oncology nursing is one of the most challenging subspecialties of nursing. An oncology nurse requires extraordinary technical knowledge to care for patients undergoing arduous medical treatments that are difficult to tolerate, and they often provide direct emotional care for patients who are in literal life-or-death circumstances. Oncology nurses routinely serve as the primary source of medical information for their patients' family and closest companions.

Nurses are also at the front lines of community health programs, cancer prevention efforts and health care administration. The UMMC School of Nursing provides the depth and breadth of training to ensure that its graduates are fully prepared for a long and rewarding career helping people live longer cancer-free lives.

If you are a qualified applicant, the UMMC School of Nursing has a program that is right for you, whether you are interested in our Bachelor's Degree Programs, a Registered Nurse Master's degree, the Master of Science degree in nursing (MSN). We even offer two doctoral degree programs, one which leads to a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree, and the other which leads to a Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing (PhD) degree.
